PHYSICAL
THERAPIST ASSISTANT
APPLICATION PROCESS
Drug
and Background check:
Policy: Some
clinical sites may require a criminal background investigation
and/or drug testing prior to or at the beginning of the
clinical assignment. Clinical assignments will not be
based on whether or not a clinic requires background
or drug tests. The procedures
for drug and background checks are available for
viewing.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Each applicant must present the following
credentials by October 1, 2008, in order to be considered
by the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Admissions
Committee for entrance into the PTA program in the spring
semester of 2008. We have included an Application
Checklist to make the process easier:

Application
for admission to the college,
-
High
school transcript indicating the applicant has
or will complete a high school course of study
or a passing GED official score report,
-
Official
transcript of all post-secondary education,
-
ACT
Score report, and
- Documentation of
a minimum of 8 hours of physical therapy observation
and/or experience (4 hours must be in a hospital physical
therapy department)
- A pre-admission conference or meeting with the coordinator
or the coordinator's designee is required prior to
an applicant's consideration by the Admissions Committee.

Students
admitted into the Physical Therapist Assistant
program must have completed BIO 137, Anatomy and
Physiology I, with a "C" or higher, prior
to entering the program.
