Q. How do I apply for f this program?

A. Students interested in applying for the Pharmacy Technician Assistant Program must apply through West Kentucky Community and Technical College. 

Q. Where do Pharmacy Technicians work?

A. Pharmacy technicians can work in either a community or institutional pharmacy.  Community pharmacies consist of chain, franchise, independent, and mail-order pharmacies.  Institutional pharmacies include those that are hospital, home healthcare, long-term care facilities, and managed-care pharmacies.

Q.  Is there a need for Pharmacy Technicians?

A. Yes.  As life-saving drugs continue to get approved and the population continues to age the need for pharmacy technicians will continue. Statistics from the US Department of Labor show that employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to grow much faster than the average through 2014.

Q. Do employers favor a Certified Pharmacy Technician over a non-Certified Pharmacy Technician when seeking employees?

A. Yes, because being certified means that you have some training and education on the roles pharmacy technician’s have in the pharmacy.
