APPLICATION
PROCEDURE AND INSTRUCTIONS
The application procedure must be followed:
1.
Complete a KCTCS application for admission to the college
and send it to West Kentucky Community and Technical
College for dental assisting or Henderson
Community College for dental hygiene.
2. Complete the DA/DH application for admission to the
program and send it to West Kentucky Community and
Technical College for dental assisting or Henderson
Community College for dental hygiene.
Make sure you complete ALL sections of each application.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for admission.
The deadline for receipt of all application materials
is March 1.

INSTRUCTIONS
FOR APPLICATION |
- If you are:
- (a) A
first time student: you must request your high
school to send an official transcript covering all
work completed at the time of application to the
institution you wish to attend. If you are a current
high school student, your present transcript must
be received by the application deadline followed
by a final transcript upon graduation. If you are
not a high school graduate, you must supply an official
copy of your GED test scores or an official high
school equivalency certification. You must also provide
the Admissions Office with your ACT scores.
- (b) A
transfer student: you must have an official transcript
of your college or university course work sent to
the institution in which you are applying. A transfer
student is one who has attempted course work at another
regionally accredited college or university outside
of the KCTCS system. Any student seeking admission
as a transfer student must be eligible to return
to their previous institution before acceptance to
the new institution can be attained. The transfer
student must also submit an official high school
transcript and ACT scores.
- · Complete
the application to the Dental Assisting Program or Dental
Hygiene Program.
- · Complete
the Dental Experience Form after you have completed
4 hours of observation in a private dental office.
- · All prospective
students must submit all of the required information
to the address of the institution you wish to attend
regardless of any previous applications that had been
submitted in the past.

Admission
to the program, whether it is for Dental Assisting
or Dental Hygiene is accomplished through a selective
admissions process. The selection committee determines
academic eligibility and ranks the applicants in
their chosen field of study. Once the class has
been accepted, names of the other candidates are
placed on an alternate list and are notified if
vacancies occur. A candidate's rank is confidential
until such time as a vacancy occurs. Listed below
are categories that may be used to rank students
who meet or surpass the stated preferences. |

Admission Preferences
1.
Applicants with an ACTE composite score of
18 or above or the equivalent on the COMPASS
exam (Reading, Writing, Algebra)

2.
Applicants who have completed 10 or more
credit hours in the approved curriculum with
a cumulative GPA or 3.0 or better,
|
3.
Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
better in postsecondary education or training,
|
4.
Applicants who have completed
