West Kentucky Community & Technical College offers an Apprentice
Cosmetology Instructor certificate designed to provide students
with the knowledge and skills required to pass state cosmetology
instructor licensing examinations. This certificate option provides
1000 training in professional services in order to give students
a thorough understanding of both theory, students in the classrooms,
and all pertinent subjects.
Apprentice
Cosmetology Instructor students are trained to teach all services
in today's salons and spas including cutting, styling, shampooing,
setting, relaxing, bleaching, or tinting the hair. They overseee
students in giving manicures, pedicures, scalp/hair treatments,
permanent waves and in providing facial makeup, shaping eybrows,
arranging wigs and applying artificial nails. They may also perform
general duties such as making appointments, cleaning the lab and
equipment, and steilizing equipment.
Students seeking
the Apprentice Cosmetology Instructor certificate receive 1000
hours of student training along with teaching responsibilities.
Upon successful
completion of the prescribed requirements for this certificate,
the graduate is prepared to take the Apprentice Cosmetology Instructor
Examinations, which consist of two days of testing.
